Miss Micronesia

The Micronesia pageant was established in 2025 by the Government of Nauru as a regional event to celebrating unity, heritage, and the shared identity of Micronesia. The Micronesia region is a subregion of Oceania, consisting of approximately 2,000 small islands in the Northwestern Pacific Ocean. It has a close shared cultural history with three other island regions: Maritime Southeast Asia to the west, Polynesia to the east, and Melanesia to the south—as well as with the wider community of Austronesian peoples.

The pageant takes place during the Micronesian music festival. With the support of the Government of Nauru, the Miss Micronesia Pageant is set to become an annual event. It’s mission: to create a platform that connects Micronesian countries through culture, community, and collaboration.

The goals of the pageant are:

• Strengthen Regional Unity.

Miss Micronesia Pageant aims to foster stronger cultural and diplomatic ties among Micronesian nations by providing a plateform for young women to share their heritage, and aspirations. 

• Promote Cultural Heritage & Tourism

The event will highlight the rich traditions, art, and history of Micronesia enhancing tourism opportinuties, and international recognition of the sub-region. 

• Empower Woman & Youth

The pageant will serve as an avenue to inspire and empower young women to take on leadership roles, advocate for social causes, and contribute to their community.

The first edition of Miss Micronesia Pageant featured finalists representing Nauru, Kiribati, and the Marshall Islands and was held in Nauru in October 2025.

The event’s theme, “We are Micronesia! Navigating our legacy; Charting our future,” reflected a shared dedication to honoring Micronesia’s cultural roots while embracing the path forward.

The Chairman shared that the theme reflects the Micronesian people’s strong ties to ancestral traditions such as navigation, storytelling, and community, while also embracing the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century. It highlights the region’s resilience, cultural identity, and commitment to preserving the environment and heritage for future generations.
